Do I need a remote control? |
Developed originally for Kite Aerial Photography, the gentled can be used in many applications where pressing the shutter isn't practical.
Whether the camera is in a kite, a model aircraft, a micro-light, on your head, or simply remote from the operator, gentled allows you to press the trigger remotely by using one of the channels on the RC receiver. Various gentled options allow you to trigger the camera either with a infra-red signal, gentled-SHUTTER, a direct connection via a plug to the camera, gentled-FOCUS & gentled-RICOH or via USB with gentled-CHDK.
This
picture shows how easy it is to get started. Left to right, the RC transmitter,
receiver battery and receiver. gentled-SHUTTER
simply connects to an unused channel and points at the camera's IR receiver.
This can also be used to control Camcorders, many models allow remote control via IR, starting and stopping recording, adjusting the zoom and pressing the PHOTO button
Not all cameras can be remote controlled, but many mid to high range digitals can be, as well as many Camcorders.
Whatever you're doing there are no mechanical parts needed to press the shutter and no need to take the camera apart to add wires.
18g gentled AUTO |
Many lightweight remote applications rely on the huge capacity of memory cards. This allows systems where photographs are taken automatically every few seconds, with the good shots being selected after the shoot. For this you need gentled-AUTO. this allows the shutter to be pressed on a infra-red camera every 3 seconds to 4 minutes. Alternately gentled-autoFINGER. allows triggering of cameras without IR via a servo motor every 2 to 30 seconds
This can be used for aerial photography, pole photography, or anywhere you cannot access the shutter and don't want the cost or complexity of a full remote control system.
A
new area of photography is the use of dedicated mounts to automate the
collection of digital images to create extremely high resolution images that can
be zoomed similar to applications like google-earth.
gigapan: This systems come with an output to drive a servo, or a digital pulse. Expand the interface or fit a larger camera or simplify the mechanical arrangements by using gentled-SHUTTER (Camera with IR shutter release) RICOH (e.g. GX200) or CHDK (Canon cameras). Note: These options require simple rewiring of the 3-pin plug on gentled to interface with the gigapan system socket.
merlin/orion: This system come with a output to drive electrical contacts on a camera. Expand the interface or fit other cameras by using gentled-JUMP (Camera with IR shutter release). Cameras like the Nikon D40 and D80 can be controlled by simply using the cable that comes with Merlin/Orion and plugging it into gentled-JUMP . Alternately with a external power source and simply rewiring gentled-RICOH (e.g. GX200) which can also be used for CHDK (Canon cameras). Page coming soon illustrating how this all works, meantime email for help!
roundshot: This system has a relay contact available on the rotating part of the head which can use a gentled-JUMP (Camera with IR shutter release).
See giga-pixel images of Edinburgh and
Dundee that were taken using gentled.
gentled-AUTO
can also be used to take shots that can be assembled into time-lapse sequences.
As well as using digital cameras this can be achieved using Camcorders as
well.
gentled-AUTO
is available for Camcorders where it presses the "PHOTO" button on the
camcorder to take a series of still images just like stop frame animation. The
Canon HV30, shown right, can be controlled like this allowing time-lapse to be
added quickly and easily. For the Canon HV20 / HV30 simply order
gentled-AUTO
with option Canon CC WL-D87.
See some Promenade, Daffodil, Clouds, Pool, Journey, Sunset1, Sunset2 and Harbour shots using gentled.
![]() a gentled can be used to trigger a camera in inaccessible places. |
Sometimes the trigger is just out of reach, or your occupied with something else. gentled-SHUTTER, can be used without a RC system and trigger the camera from any switch or relay, e.g. from a PIR motion detector. gentled-JUMP provides a similar solution, it even has a built in battery for total flexibility.
Whether you have limited mobility, the camera is just out of range (e.g. Pole
photography), or you need a hands-free solution to release your shutter - look
no further, we have products that can be built into systems to do what you want.
